Dr. Morgan Poore is Brinton Vision’s on-staff optometrist, and her vivacious personality and commitment to excellence are a perfect match for our patient care team. From pre-treatment testing to post-operative check-ups, Dr. Poore’s talents and skill are part of the comprehensive, world-class care Brinton Vision clients have come to expect.
Changing lives through the gift of vision is a natural fit for Dr. Poore. She grew up a hop, skip and a jump away in Sullivan, where she developed a love for running and a passion for animals. She remained true to her Midwest roots in college, earning her undergraduate degree and meeting her now-husband Kris at Illinois College in west-central Illinois. While in school, she landed a job working part-time for an optometrist and fell in love with the profession.
Dr. Poore went on to graduate with distinction from University of Missouri College of Optometry in St. Louis. Her hard work earned her the honor of membership into the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society, American Optometric Association, Missouri Optometric Association, and American Academy of Optometry. She also dedicated her time and talents to international aid organization Volunteer Optometric Service to Humanity (VOSH) and Delta Gamma Center for Children with Visual Impairments.
Like Dr. Brinton, Dr. Poore stands out among her peers. She was awarded the Contact Lens Clinical Award and Missouri Optometric Foundation Clinical Optometry Scholarship for excellence in clinical skills, patient rapport and her keen interest in research. She also received an award for exceptional service as a student ambassador.
Upon graduation, she and Kris moved with their four-legged family to Columbia, where Dr. Poore began her career with Advanced Vision. Eager to return to her roots and to join the Brinton Vision team, Dr. Poore returned to St. Louis in 2018.
“St. Louis is home for us,” she explains. “It’s where we started our lives together, so we love it here.”
When it comes to LASIK, St. Louis is the place to be, Poore adds.
“There’s a lot that impresses me about Brinton Vision. For starters, the staff is wonderful. They are all very caring, welcoming and knowledgeable, and they work hard. Dr. Brinton is an amazing surgeon. His knowledge base, not only about surgery but about the optics and anatomy of the eye, is truly impressive.
“Another thing I love about this office is the technology. New research and technology are constantly advancing what we know and what we can do. Brinton Vision is truly at the peak of that evolution. We utilize the most advanced, proven technology to provide patients with thorough vision assessments and the best possible outcomes.”
Above all, however, it is Dr. Poore’s passion for helping others that drives her success.
“There is something surreal about working with people who have been wearing glasses and contacts for years, or who have astigmatism and have often been told that surgery isn’t an option,” she says. “It’s a fun feeling to see them after surgery and to see the kind of freedom they experience with clear eyesight. I look forward to helping change people’s lives through the priceless gift of sight, and to watching the practice grow as technology advances.”
Dr. Poore continues to serve our local and international communities through volunteer service, and to create a life in St. Louis with Kris and their beautiful daughter, Rhyan, born in August. Baby Rhyan is the latest addition to the family “zoo,” which also includes: the lovely Maya, a half mini-Maltese/mini-Eskimo dog; Cooper a lab/Aussie mix; Maggie, their calico cat; and young Charlie, an adorable tabby. In her spare time, Dr. Poore can be found running, kayaking, playing with her animals or at the baseball field watching her husband coach.
