Dr. Jason P. Brinton is committed to patient excellence and treating each person like family. His practice philosophy has always been to select the best procedure for each patient rather than guide patients into the path of a single refractive procedure.
He serves as an Associate Faculty Member in Refractive Surgery for Faculty of 1000, a global peer review publisher that assesses the impact of scientific papers in the literature. Dr. Brinton has been an investigator or sub-investigator on eleven U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clinical trials, is an editorial board member for Ocular Surgery News, and sat for a term on the governing board of the New England Journal of Medicine.
After fellowship training with Dr. Dan Durrie (Durrie Vision) in cornea and refractive surgery, Dr. Brinton joined an elite group of approximately a dozen full-time refractive surgeons in the United States who provide cornea-based and lens-based vision correction procedures.
He is one of only a small number of LASIK eye surgeons in St. Louis and nationwide to limit his practice to vision correction surgery, offering the absolute latest, advanced, and proven technologies for personalized vision correction as part of his St. Louis LASIK practice. He has performed vision correction surgery on patients from 16 countries and 42 states, including professional athletes and fellow eye surgeons who have traveled great distances for Dr. Brinton to correct their vision.
As a third-generation ophthalmologist, Dr. Brinton grew up witnessing first hand how restoring the gift of sight changed patients’ lives. After serving as a physician in the European Theater of World War II, his grandfather, Sherman S. Brinton, MD, moved with his young family to St. Louis where he served as an ophthalmologist at Barnes Hospital. His grandfather subsequently participated in the first cornea transplant in his state. Dr. Brinton’s father, Gregory S. Brinton, MD, is the founding partner of Retina Associates of Utah. Before becoming a refractive surgeon, Dr. Brinton worked as a consultant at the firm McKinsey & Company and served as a White House Intern. Dr. Brinton speaks fluent Russian.
Dr. Brinton, along with Dr. Lance Kugler and Dr. Greg Parkhurst, is a founding member of the Refractive Surgery Alliance, a global organization comprised of 300 of the top LASIK eye surgeons from around the world and which also includes his fellow Dr. Luke Rebenitsch. The RSA’s core principles of qualified, ethical physicianship, capital equipment and post-surgery longevity are shared by Dr. Brinton and represent the philosophical core of his St Louis LASIK practice.
Dr. Jason P. Brinton has over 100 scientific publications, abstracts, book chapters, and presentations to his credit in multiple languages and has lectured extensively across the country, globally, and at home in St. Louis on LASIK and eye surgery topics.

Jami and I met during medical school. Prior to being a mom, Jami was a TV news anchor/reporter in Iowa City and Kansas City and co-chaired the initial campaign that elected Utah Governor Jon M. Huntsman, Jr. She traded in her microphone and high heels for a stroller and luggage cart to carry around snow and water ski equipment as we welcomed four children into our home: Jackson, Kate, Alexa and Thomas.
Meet Jackson, our teenage son who loves to snow ski, swim and play baseball with his friends. When he grows up he wants to be an Olympic swimmer and study engineering.
Our 11-year-old daughter, Kate, enjoys wakeboarding, classical piano, reading, swimming, and anything involving science. Her dream is to be like her papa.
Alexa is 8 and loves to write stories about everything that touches her imagination and includes drawings to go along with the text. She likes to sing, play the piano and be creative.
